Cover a table in overpriced tat and – be it poorly-reproduced coronation thimbles, bits of crystalised rock, the ubiquitous pashmina or a bit of wire bent into someone's name – as long as you're in the hallowed halls of the market, offer it and they will come; sterling, like monopoly money, at the ready. Similarly, if you have a unicycle or juggling balls, you can rake in a fortune with 20 minutes of child-coddling, crowd-stirring pre-amble and about 30 seconds of action.
