Bar Viva
Bar Viva is the not-so-holy grail of London pubs: it's a proper local. Down the 'other end' of Balham high road, Viva's owned by possibly the friendliest man in London, Saleem, who – be warned – remembers everyone's name and their 5-pint confessions. Despite any vain attempts to line your stomach with cheap food, you'll be joining the ranks of Balhamites groaning: 'Ouch, I was well and truly Vivad last night' come morning.
