Afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House

Dear Aunt May, terrible news! Fanny and I have just had afternoon tea – I can still taste the pristeen white sandwiches now, freshly-baked scones with pots of clotted cream and, May, the petit fours were almost too perfect to eat! The darling pianist indulged my whim for a little Wagner while we lunched and, in truth, the distraction was much-needed, for Fanny made a most disquieting confession. It seems she's not as solvent as we imagined. Thankfully, her purse could easily stretch to the tea.
