Canteen

Canteen lies in the middle of newly-refurbished Spitalfields Market and offers modern British cuisine in a restaurant that looks like a Danish motorway service station. The food's great - they do lots of pies, kippers, roasts, and treacle tarts, etc - and the staff are perky. We'd recommend going for brunch after you've bought your knick-knacks and olive bread nearby. Best book first though. This place is usually chocka.
