La Porchetta

La Porchetta is as much part of the Finsbury Park furniture as the local tramps and wierdos. It's as popular now as ever and despite the company becoming something of a London mini-chain - with branches in Holborn, Islington, Muswell Hill etc - there's more than enough charm to go round. Ideal for big boisterous celebrations - the things they do with dough and pizza trays have to be experienced -, first dates and family outings; kids are very welcome. The food is excellent with big portions and quality ingredients: try the gorgonzola pizza or amazing calzone. Wine is cheap and plentiful, and the vibe is loud, hectic and buzzily upbeat. You'll have a job on to spend over a tenner a head, so it's good for cheapskates too. Fantastic stuff.
