Telegraph, The
The Telegraph went through a bit of a bad patch a few years ago, but recent efforts to get things moving in the right direction seem to be working. Apart from bringing in someone who knows how to knock up some tasty Thai dishes for under a tenner, the management at this pub have been getting back in touch with the pub's musical roots. The Clash used to play here, as did the likes of Basement Jaxx in their early days. Now, the room at the back plays host to live bands every night. Whoever's booking them seems to know what they're doing, as several recent acts have gone on to sign record deals not long after. It may be a long way up Brixton Hill, but if you can face the climb, you'll find plenty of rewards at the top.
