Brasserie Chez Gerard
Don't be intimidated by the showy façade, complicated menu and flamboyant name. It's actually a modern gastro-pub with a continental feel. The food may be on the pocket-punching side, but the staff are welcoming and don't seem to mind if you mispronounce the name of your starter. And if you're seriously scared of being humiliated, then why not just order a bog-standard burger? If you come here with a big appetite however, you may want to consider slipping some of the bread into your pocket, as the portions are on the small side.
