The Star Inn
It is our opinion that there isn't anything like a proper old pub. It saddens us to see them slowly dying out in this age of cheap leather seating and fancy foreign cocktails. You just can't manufacture a place like The Star Inn. It's been created over an indeterminate period of time by thousands of men sitting around enjoying a ruddy pint and a fag, possibly some nuts, definitely some laughs. No transparently corporate decisions here. We don't want to lose places like these. They're like walking in comfortable old shoes; rarely exciting but always a pleasure and never a chore.
