Oliver, The
Hands up who's heard of the Bath Oliver biscuit. No? Well, The Oliver is famed for being the home of this particular piece of confectionary designed by Dr. William Oliver, which he claimed remedied digestion. However, no one in the pub itself could explain why the biscuit needed a home in a pub or why, seeing as they're so keen to link themselves to the product, they don't sell them. I suppose they should stick to what they know; sweet shops are for biscuits, public houses are for beer anything else would be madness. Should you enter this temple of confection you'll find swirly carpets and the odd pissed-up old man in the corner but the real draw is the upstairs room where you can play pool for just 50p. Crumbs. Sorry.
