Milsoms Hotel
Stuck in the type of antique building that makes tourists go 'Aaah CLICK!', the Milsom is 2002's Xmas prezzie to Bath. Budgets should happily stretch to this tiny 9-roomed hotel with a uniquely elegant 'designer but not boo-teek' feel. Plump for an Executive Room and use its mother of all free-standing Georgian-style baths to soak to your heart's content without needing to thank the Romans for it. All this and the classy ground-floor seafood restaurant that serves up your daily brekkie makes for a heady 'soak, scoff & shop' mix because it's probably the only hotel that drops you straight out of its front door onto central Bath's pedestrian-malled main road, Milsom St. Which explains the name of the hotel, really.
