Famous Five adventures in Bath
In an age where teenage pregnancy and prepubescent junkies have become a norm,
With George, Tommy, Anne and Dick gallivanting around the countryside, it doesn't take much more to persuade us that human moral isn't totally extinct.
Here's a few suggestions which will help you to embrace the all-salvaging Famous Five way of life:
On a rainy afternoon, nothing is more gratifying than settling down for delightful cream tea in a Bath tea shop. Itchy suggests the Bath Bun Tea Room, quaintly situated at the poetic address of Lilliput Court. The courtyard provides a place for Tommy to have a nap, while the five of you can plan what to do about the haunted tea cosy.
Horseback riding
is a wonderful way to soak up the Somerset country air and photosynthesize a bit. Head out to Little Horse Croft Farm, on Ford Road, where you will find stables and a riding school. Itchy believes there is no better way to explore the forest...including that mysterious man who lives in the cottage in the clearing (no, he's not a paedophile). Just don't get lost in the thick fog.If you're scared that a grumbling tummy may spoil the fun, then why not take a picnic? Ideal picnic food can be bought at the Bath Sausage Shop at number 7 Green Street. Happen to know a kind old lady? Then ask her to supply you with some homemade lemonade: a simple step towards getting that Famous-Five-vibe.
A final idea for when sunny summer turns into damp autumn: Go mushroom-picking. Even though Itchy heard on the grape vine that it's a national passion in Poland, we think that the Brits are just as good at it. Try the woods directly above the University campus, and if in doubt about what's edible and what isn't, feed them to Tommy first. And don't tell the RSPCA.
Apart from that, always stick together, never sleep in the same tent as the opposite sex, carry a notebook with you at all times and make sure that you have the Ghostbusters's mobile number handy.
Now get the Enid groove people.
